I've spent the last couple of days painting and customizing eyechips for these two. I love how the chips look like sweets in the mornng sun.

Most of my Blythes have changed a lot after being customized recently. I think I'm going to give them new names to reflect their personality. When I first named them, they were new, I was new to this hobby and we hadn't really bonded yet. Now I think I got to know them better. Maybe there will be some changes ahead.

I am going to send Soleil for a new faceup soon, so I thought I'd make some more pictures of her "before" to compare with the post-makeover ones. She is a bit of a traveller, this little one. She came all the way from Korea to France (to her first owner) and then on to me in Jersey. Now she'll be jetting off for her "spa treatment" in China - I am feeling kind of jealous.

I got some Blythe tights this week and I'm planning to turn each one into a pair of socks + tights for Latis. Much cheaper than buying Lati Yellow sized stuff on Etsy and, with so many girls going for expensive beauty treatments in this household, any savings are greatly appreciated. ;)

She poses beautifully, not a single kick; the mechanism to keep her legs straight at the back of her knees when she's standing is as simple as it's genius.

Her little face is flawless. I didn't expect to find such level of detail and craftmanship on a doll so small.

The main problem will be finding her good shoes, but I am sure it will come.

I spend ages not paying my dolls any attention and then, after one visit to the forum, I come out with this little guy(girl):

It's a Narin (boy) face on a modded (no tits) Narae (girl) body. I've been wanting another Narae (this time white) for ages, but after stumbling upon this beautiful fella I couldn't help myself. I love his faceup, so natural and sweet. And the fact that I can turn the little one into a boy or a girl, depending on mood - he'd easily work fine both ways. The "no tit" thing is actually a plus, since I rarely wear my girls in sexy outfits anyway and like them to look young and innocent (so to make things even more interesting when they misbehave, hehe).

Also love the fact that he/she comes with the beautiful new hands (plus a closed option one):

She is in great condition for a 37 year old lady. I am especially in love with her hair, so full of volume but almost entirely frizz free. She is slightly boggled though (to be corrected soon), and has the infamous butt crack. I haven't taken pictures of my dolls in ages. But then yesterday I took some pictures of doll related stuff to sell in the forums and, upon finding this red and black jacket, I thought it would look nice on Phaedra.

She's lounging and watching the morning sun slowly filling up the room with daylight. One of these moments when we're happy to just be.

sometimes i think she doesn't really need a wig. i photoshopped her joints slightly on this photo; she looks stronger and full of character when bald.

Finally received the new set of Pinkys from Hobby Link Japan a few days ago. I didn't have the time to make proper pictures yet, but I took these quick ones just to register the arrival.

This one does look very Chanel. Look at the suit!

And the quilting ballet shoes. Pure love.

Love the polka dot clutch and the little camera, too. So perfect.

And this one. So. Amazing. I adore the skull hair pin, her eyeshadow, the bubble skirt (so 80's), her romantic expression and her little dead-cat friend.

I know he looks rather... gross, sometimes. But I love him just the same.

Finally got my grubby fingers on some Reutter Porzellan miniatures. Just to give you an idea on how small they are:

Master bedroom - more or less finished, I hope (still need carped or, even better, wooden floors painted white).

How is it called, "washing up area"? :) Bad picture, out of focus, but there you are - now we have a ironing board and pile of just ironed clothes! Something I wouldn't be so crazy to do in real life, though.

Kitchen! I regret having bought those real terracota tiles. They are very expensive, I still need loads of them to finish the room and they're a bugger to deal with (very fragile, to start with). A bit late to change my mind, though - these ones have already been glued in place.

Note that the wall on the right isn't the "real" one. When there's a real wall there, it will separate the kitchen from the downstairs loo.

A dollie feast! All these pieces (except the chopping board) are Sylvanian Families. I would never think they'd be so perfect in size for 1/12 stuff.

actually it's still the old fireplace. i painted it white (it used to be cream), bought a new (and better) mirror and a fire basket (that can be lit up).

those dolls are by heidi ott, and, altough a tad expensive (average price Â£15, cheaper for children/toddlers) I wouldn't have any other for my dollhouse. they'are made of plastic instead of ceramic (so won't break easily), have much cuter and detailed faces, hands and features and the adult ones are actually ball jointed and entirely posable.

ok, i had promised myself i was NOT going to post anything untill finished. untill i had the time and inspiration to make nice pictures and make everyone squeal in face of the cuteness. but i kept my fingers crossed on my back all the time, as i know i can't keep a promise.

ok, so on the left you see the unglued, unpainted and unfinished dollhouse that i got on the mail yesterday. flat pack. that means i'll have to assemble everything. i'm feeling tempted to wait untill husband come home in april to help me with that. if i can stand the wait, that is. on the right, the blue dollhouse i got from a christmas market in berlin last year. husband has built me two basement anexes, and on top of the front one i'll make a garden (you can already see some lawn "growing" plus some garden benches and a bird feeder).

here's the living room (biggest room in the house) and the only inhabitant so far; a doll called nora that i got as a gift with my last purchase from dollhouse emporium.

all the furniture was painted by me; i bought them in whitewood, unpainted, as it was considerably cheaper and i could create on a blank canvas. i'm going for a slightly scandinavian look, with loads of white plus red and blue accents.

this is the girls' room. still needs propper wallpaper and flooring. and i have to finish the bed linen (yes, i'm doing the soft furnishings as well; blankets, cushions, pillows, curtains, rugs, the whole thing).

on the right, what will soon become the house bathroom (there will be a downstairs loo by the kitchen, too, for more, erm, "urgent" needs).

this is the nursery. still lacking flooring, wall decorations and a wardrobe. painting that cot, with all those tiny little banisters, was hard work. i used enamel because the texture was much more fluid and allowed better coverage. for future work i'm gonna use water based emulsion, though.

this is the study/workroom. the lady of the house is a decorator/illustrator (my dream job, was i any good in any of this) so she needs this quiet space up the attic to work. that doesn't mean the kids won't occasionally invade her sanctuary to steal her pens and play on the computer.

the other attic room is a guest bedroom (maybe nora will occupy it, not sure yet), that still needs some decoration, but not much, as it's small in size and the guests (or nora...) need circulation area.

the kitchen still needs a lot of work. i haven't decided on a colour for the walls, but will have to be light as this is the annexe that goes underneath the main house. i will cut some windows above the sink for extra light, too. note the tiny terracota tiles; i haven't glued them yet as i'd have to buy some more to finish the floor and they're quite expensive... i'm still deciding if the awesome effect is worth the cost.

so, that's what i've been up to! still loads to do, but i couldn't be happier.

looking at all this tiny miniatures, i can't help to remember my first ever dollhouse, cut from wooden fruit boxes for me by one of the builders that was working at our house (called hermÃnio, i can never forget his name). it was very rudimentary, plain and not decorated, but it had windows on the side, housed all my barbie furniture and made me happy for years.

last week I received a lovely emerald green smock dress made by susan402 on etsy. it is really a small masterpiece, so detailed and well made. worth the tag price and the waiting list! i decided to let daffodil model it, as it was her birthday and i thought the green dress + her yellow locks would look great against this year's daffodil crop on rozel valley:

it's funny how the bulbs blossom fabulously on the same spot year after year - and year after year i have to walk there with my camera to photograph them. this year i didn't do a great job photographing them, because the light was dull and last week's windstorm had taken a few away before i finally got there (and yes, bad angle + me in a hurry). but nonetheless the view never fails to amaze me.

this wig was found at a antique doll market in hannover, germany. it costed me less than one euro and i was sure would be good for nothing, untill i took the time to try it on bluebell.

now i think it looks really cute on her and complement her features way better than the old yellow mohair wig. she looks like an old ragdoll with wool chestnut hair and red lips.

and even cuter than i though she could be.

she arrived not to be Amaryllis twin, but to save Amy's extra frizzy hair. I'm planning a scalp transplant, to give Amy this shinny, gorgeous brand new hair and buy Camelia a new wig (I think she would look lovely on a strawberry blonde straight mohair). That is, IF I can overcome my over zealous love for Amy, and the fact that, in some sort of way, her frizzy hair reflects how much she's been loved and played with, and makes her who she is.

the new stats feature on flickr is really cool! i had a look on mine today and found this:

as you can see, i'm far from being popular, but that's not the point.

i had no doubts that "nude dominique" would be my most viewed from all times, since she looks so real on the thumbnail (and, let's admit it, even in the original full-size version) and i had posted the picture on some of these "artistic nude" groups just to try and fool people, lol. what amazes me is how i've underated this picture, because it took me more than a year for me to finally go and add it to my flickr stream.

some of these pictures i had no expectations about. the one with a momoko weighing herself on the rement scales are kind of boring to me. "ice cream time" is a huge hit for my standards - almost 100 faves so far, but it's all due to dahlia natural beauty, i suppose.

anyway, it's a great feature and i think everyone who has a paid account there should enable it and keep track of their hits!

As you can see, my 70s Pinkys arrived here last week. :) The need to have proper pictures taken, but unfortunately the sun has been hiding today.

After breakfast on sunday we went to the Puppen & Baren Market (Doll & Bear Fair). I wasn't particularly excited because honestly, most of these antique doll scare the hell out of me. Ok, not so - I am not that squeamish to be scared by a piece of plastic/resin, and I also respect other people's tastes and passions in life - but to me some of these dolls are creepy and downright ugly.

To my surprise, they didn't have only antique dolls, but also loads of clothing, wigs, shoes and 1/12 antique furniture to sell. Everything was so tiny, perfect - and expensive. And even some of the old dollies were really cute.

This one below I would have brought home with me - she is some sort of old replica of an old british type of doll, and in fact is a vintage wooden ball jointed doll. Lovely, but 180 euros was more than I had in my wallet.

Sorry about the blurred/dark photos, but the light was poor inside the place and I was a bit shy. I really don't like to take pictures in expositions because some of the people can be really rude if they don't like to have their merchandising photographed... more on that later.

For some reason unknown to me, last sunday all the shops in town were open. In one of them I found a small pink pig, lonely amongst the traditional teddies, starting to burst at the seams and the price tag marked in bright red: REDUCED, from 7 euros to 3,50. Me being eternally fond and protective of the humiliated ones, had no doubt we were meant to be friends.

And so Percival was born. Perci, to his mates.

I'm loving this Ikea furniture - the size is just perfect for Latis. :) Too bad you can only find them in US auctions and the shipping is killer... But that's fine because I've managed to get all the pieces I wanted already (there's still more to arrive).

I was going to buy a real dollhouse for Olive, but soon realized Ikea furniture is not 1/12 scale and the rooms would be too small for them. So I'll probably get some cheap wooden boxes from the DIY store and decorate them. :)

Those red corduroy trousers were made by me and the result pleased me enough not to trash them. :)
She is still wigless. I love the bald look, but must admit that am dying to use all the cute hairpins on her chocolate mohair locks. And I so want her to look like a little girl.

So, it seems, we're heading to Finland next weekend. By car, which means a lot of driving through three different countries - and some ferry crossings, too.
I'm already freaking about what I'm going to do with the cat.

I'm leaving to Jersey in a few hours.
Just called my mom and she started going on about plane crashes and I wondered what was her point. But anyway. I'm glad I'll be able to see my beautiful island and loved home once more, even if it's only for a few days and the weather will be probably crap.

- god only loves you if you believe that he exists.

2. why do people come in different colours?
- i don't know. but sometimes i think it would be fair easier if we all were white, or all black, or pink for that matter. it's sad that skin colour has became another thing to set us apart.

I loved the ones that came on her (blue as I had requested - thanks, Lati!), but later realized that 14mm is a tad too big for Lati's small eyesockets. So off the blue ones went and in came those 12mm green ones that came with Emmaleth. Much, much better.

The Tinybear wig was basically for a laugh, but I loved the way it looked on her. I love curly hair dolls. I'm going to order some for Olive - but in the right size, of course. :)

And this is the purple fur wig that came with Emmaleth... You can see one is not amused:

1. If you could go back to high school, would you want to do it all over again?
no fucking way.

2. Why and how?
i had a very hard time then. i didn't want to fit in and some people decided to penalize me for that.
besides, i hate most teenagers. i wouldn't want to be surrounded by them ever again.

3. Who were you in high school?
not sure. i used to be friends with the nerdy types, but I wasn't really one of them. i just was lucky enough that, as the school sucked, the exams were easy and i aced them just by studying for 30 minutes. so eevryone thought i was smart when in fact i was lazy.

4. Who are you now?
mostly happy. that's all that matters to me.

5. What is the most embarrassing experience you had in your high school days?
one day i let my hair loose after blow drying it, and the whole school started to mock at me. people would look at me and insult me (lightly, but still). one girl came to me and suggested that i should tie it back, but i was already enough pissed off by the whole thing and refused. i think it was one of the most defiant things i've done in my pre-teenage years.

Dikken's legs have become a little floppy and now he can't sit properly. Got to think of a way to fix that.
I hate when I manage to break toys that are so old (Dikkens will be 40 next year). Ok, maybe it was not my fault. The material that gives support to his legs is not the best in the world; it feels like cardboard, but I'm not sure. And I don't know wheter he's spent all these years sitting still wearing his joints out or carefully packed inside a box. Whatever. Just pains me to see any cycle ending in my hands.

My dolls are almost as lost as I am with the move.
We were all uprooted and now we cannot find our things as we open the drawers. It's not a particularly nice feeling.
I hope we haven't lost anything important (such as ourselves) in the middle of this domestic chaos.

Arrivals and Make Overs...

First of all, my Asian Butterfly is finally here!

She is much more gorgeous than expected. Ok, the lips are worn and there's a bit of blue stain in the back of her head (luckily covered by hair), things that were omitted by the seller. Oh well. But this hair just glows in the light, it's hard to describe. :)

I was sadly contemplating the possibility of selling Morphine (my Very Cherry Berry). There was simply too much hair for me to take. The poor dearie was gathering dust on the shelf for ages, and I wanted a doll with dark, short hair and a fringe. But at the same time I couldn't bear the idea of packing my pretty doll and send her out to an unknown destiny. Call me the freaky doll lady, but I tend to think my dolls are safe with me.

Then I realized all I had to do was to cut Morphine's hair. RBLs are great because their eyes are so expressive and their heads so easy to open, but you can't beat EBLs hair quality and those awesome eyes. Besides, I didn't really want the new doll to be tanned skin. So, here's Morphine and her new 'do:

I still need to trim the fringe and curl the ends, but the lenght is exactly what I wanted. Not sure about the lipstick. Maybe there will be more changes in the future.

But out of the shelf she is, and trying on new outfits she is, and happy we are. :)

She is actually babysitting. Theodora's mother is a Go for victory that will, hopefully, arrive this week (got her for cheapo at dolls.jp sale).

Well, nothing in this dollhouse is really ready, as you can see. But I can't possibly beging to tell how much FUN I'm getting out of it. Browsing Ebay for dollie furniture has quickly became an addiction.

And I also need to add how surprised I am with Momokos - they'se simply delightful. At first that ultra skinny body gave me the creeps but I quickly got used to it and now I love how she can wear Pullips/Blythe/Barbie clothes (even Barbie looking positively "fat" and huge in comparison). They are also unbelievably poseable and much prettier in person. I am also waiting for a Mama Told me, that i finally decided to buy (despite of the price). Those pink creepers!!

P.S.: I loved the idea of a PullipPedia group at Flickr (Blythes have something similar, and cute Pullips bloody well deserved something like that, too). I then got motivated and created groups to join the PullipPedia. I was going to send invites, but it's tiresome to browse more than 200 names on my friend list on Flickr to find out who has which doll, so... I'll make the invitation here: if you have a Flickr account and also any of the following dolls, join the groups and let's create a nice database for our little ones.

Supper is almost ready! (yep, lil' plastic ones get hungry, too)

I am so in love with those Sylvanian Families dollhouses I have to refrain from building an entire lilliputian city. Not to mention my huge 1/6 doll house. Some scrapbook papers arrived today and I am 90% sure I have wallpaper glue on my hair right now. I have to finish most of what I can before next saturday when I'll be leaving my home for a long, long time (and that makes my heart feel a little bit smaller than it actually is... but on the other hand it makes me happy as I realize now my heart has finally started to call this place home).

But for now I gotta be happy, because the sun is shinning after almost a week of tedious grey skies and rain - and it's time to finish wallpapering the doll house, fill up my iPod with good music and pack some dollies.
